Nairobi water company refutes claims of water shortage in Njiru

waterNairobi City Water and Sewerage Company has refuted claims that the company has not been supplying Njiru ward with water for the past one month as alleged by a section of residents.

In an interview with Ghetto Radio News the companys’ Managing Director Nahashon Miguna says  the only  complain they recieved was in Obama estate where there was a hitch with main water pipe but was it was fixed immediately after one resident raised the matter with the company.

‘‘We have already rectified a small technical problem that occured in Obama estate  and we want to assure residents in those area that there is complete flow of water in the taps,’’ he added.

The residents have been blaming section of Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company staffs to be leading chain of water cartels that ensure water do not reach completely in  some estates.

According to Muguna the company has been complying with the directive of governor Mike Sonko and they are supplying water to the Eastlands esatates and those along Thika Road 3-4 days per week.

‘‘The company is complying with the directive of the governor and areas like CBD and all slums in Nairobi are receiving water on a daily basis,’’ Muguna stated.

Last month governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko visited Ndakaini dam which is main source of Nairobi water and it came out that the dam was 100% full and in tern he gave a directive to NCWC to reduce water rationing in the city.
