Executives in the Information Communication Technology department Nairobi county were today put to task to explain why the county government has not terminated the contract of revenue collection platform company Webtribe mother to Jambo Pay.
Appearing before Parliamentary Accounts Committee to answer audit queries financial year 2016/2017, the officers led by minister for ICT Newton Munene failed to explain why the same was not done despite the recommendation by the senate.
According to Munene the advertisement for a new revenue vendor will be advertised in the news papers tomorrow.
Munene also added that they have agreed with Jambo to give the system free of charge,a move that is now raising eye brows.
PAC chairman Wilfred Odalo wanted to know why the system is now being given for free yet the county government gave Jambo pay Ksh. 23 million to install the system money that is still in question.
‘‘How will we recover the 23 million shillings from Jambo Pay now that they want to relinquish system again for free?’’ He asked.
Odalo further gave directives to the PAC committee to follow closely the Jambo Pay issue as the contract comes to end 7th April.
