Nairobi Finance CEC To Appear Before PAC Over Suspected Irregular Payments
The Probe over suspected irregular payments by the county government of Nairobi in the last one month continues to gain momentum despite failure by Finance officials to appear before the Public Accounts Committee today as directed earlier.
PAC members led by chairman Wilfred Oluoch gave another chance to the executive to come before them and explain how they have been paying the pending bill from December last year to this year March following a petition saying that the payments done so far are irregular.
According to Wilfred, the Finance CEC Allan Esabwa Igambi is advised to appear before PAC this week Thursday to shed light on the matter.
‘‘As you have heard the CEC for finance decided to interpret our letter in his own way to defeat the purpose of this committee, I hereby direct that the CEC be re-invited to appear this week Thursday.’’ He said.
There are concerns as to why the county government continues to pay pending bills in the dockets that have been already taken by the National government.
In his letter to PAC Allan wants a special audit to be done first before appearing.
‘‘In response to your later, requesting us to attend the Public Accounts Committee meeting on Tuesday, we hereby kindly seek for postponnment of the same to enable us to get a suitable response from the auditor general,’’ the letter reads.
