Nairobi County Assembly Sets Date To Vote For Sonko’s Impeachment
Embattled Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko is set to know his fate as MCAs slate to vote for his impeachment motion next week on Tuesday.
This Week Sonko is expected at the assembly chambers to face the MCAs one on one and answer to accusations laid down in his impeachment motion by Makongeni MCA Perter Imwatok.
Legally the governor can choose to attend and defend himself at the assembly or send his legal team.
Komarock Member of County Assembly John Kamua says they are ready for the governor should he come a lone or send a lawyer.
‘‘The ball is in his court..we are ready, we shall ensure the procedure is followed and we shall dispense this matter by Tuesday,’’ he said.
Makongeni MCA Peter Imwatok last week moved a motion in the assembly to impeach Sonko.
In his motion Hon. Imwatok cited corruption, gross misconduct and abuse of office and incompetence as grounds for Sonko’s impeachment.
