Muranga governor Mwangi wa Iria has defended his hawkers’ bill saying the hawking business should be legitimized.

According to Wa Irias” Bill a better structure should be in  place in all counties accommodating hawkers and vendors.

Addressing the media he criticised the manner in which the authorities brutalize hawkers a move he terms as criminalizing legit trade that contributes 94% of Kenya’s economy.

The hawkers and street vendors protection of livelihood bill 2018 has already been presented to the senate and its now awaiting legislation process.
