A section of Mukuru kwa Reuben slum dwellers took to the streets to protest the killing of eight suspected thugs by police on Tuesday night.
The residents denied claims by police that the deceased were criminals.
They carried placards written “Vijana sio kuku, we need justice,” (youth are not chicken, we demand justice).”
The eight were gunned down in Industrial Area and five home-made guns and knives recovered, according to the police.
Makadara OCPD Nehemiah Langat said the gang was on a robbery mission in Mukuru slums at around 8 pm when they were ambushed by police officers.
