Community workers in Mukuru Kwa Reuben slums in Embakasi area have sounded an alarm over the rising numbers of drunk pupils in schools.
Roslyn Asena a community worker in Mukuru Kwa Reuben says they have received many reports of children showing up in schools drunk from illicit brews.
Speaking to Ghetto Radio News Asena says many teachers have been rendered helpless as their efforts to reach out to the parents of the children have not been fruitful.
She says the situation has been fueled by the many illicit brew dens in Mukuru Kwa Reuben and the growing number of clubs.
Asena has also pointed an accusing finger to the police who are constantly taking bribes from the clubs and illicit brew dealers in Mukuru slums.
