A Nairobi Member of Parliament has been blasted for spending millions on TV sets to enable the youth watch the ongoing World Cup.
Embakasi South MP Jullius Mawathe allegedly spent over Ksh 1,000,000 on TV sets mounted in churches for the world cup.
The TV sets have allegedly been set up in all the five wards in the constituency.
The youth in the area say the money should have been spent on supporting the various struggling youth clubs in the constituency.
Creative Hands Football Club players specifically stated that the MP should have invested the money in rehabilitating the football grounds, buying training balls for the players and even kits.
“The MP should have at least football stakeholders before buying the TV sets. So after the World Cup, of what use will the TV sets be after the World Cup?” they asked
They say most of them have missed tournaments due to lack of kits and means of transport to the venue.
