Move by Zimmerman MCA Pius Mbono to regularise the stay of the hawkers within Nairobi CBD and back streets flopped today , this  is after a motion supporting the same was rejected by the  Nairobi county assembly.

In a heated debate that took hours in the chambers  the MCAs differed  most of the them supporting the county governments’ move  barring hawkers within CBD.

Former mayor and Babadogo MCA Geoffrey Odhiambo Majiwa says the city has a poor planning and most of the criminals will use hawkers presence in  back streets to perpetrate crime as seen before.

Meanwhile hawkers are back  in the CBD operating full time contrary to the directive by the Nairobi county government .

Their operations are from 6PM where they record high number within Tom Mbaya streets,Moi avenue and River road.

They maintain that they will continue operating within the CBD saying is favourable for their business and has more customers.

Governor Sonko is yet complete Mwariro market in Ngara which  he says will accommodate  over 600 hawkers who operate within the CBD.
