The Kenya National Union of Nurses has asked mothers to keep off Mbagathi Hospital following a fire incident that started in the Hospital’s Maternity wing.

KNUN Secretary General Seth Panyako also asked nurses to move from the building that was recently declared unsafe by city engineers.

Mothers and their newborns narrowly escaped death on Tuesday night after a fire incident at the hospital.

Sixteen newborns who were in the incubator at the time when the building caught fire were moved to the Kenyatta National Hospital.

Some who were pregnant were however forced to spend the night in the cold as the hospital staff tried to extinguish the fire.

Panyako also wants Nairobi County’s Health CEC impeached for ignoring warning signs by city engineers.
