A dormitory was on Monday morning razed at Koderobara Boys Secondary School in Rongo, Migori County.
The students are said to have been in class for their morning studies when the fire started.
Locals who went to help the school team and the police to put off the fire, blamed the county Government’s department of disaster for poor preparedness to deal with fire incidents.
They said the county lacks a fire fighting engine to respond quickly when disaster strikes.
The county depends on one fire engine owned by Sony Sugar Company in case of disaster.
The incident follows another that razed Mulo Scondary School, Nyabisawa Secondary School, Mukuyu Secondary School and Kokuro Secondary School.
