More funds allocated to teachers, fight against corruption

The government has set aside Sh5 billion for the recruitment of additional teachers for primary and secondary schools.

While reading the 2018/2019 budget in Parliament today, Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich stated that the initiative is expected to increase the teacher-student ratio.

The commission had noted that it needs to hire 68,000 interns at a cost of Sh16 billion, and 12,696 trained teachers, to ensure 100 per cent rate of student transition.

Rotich has also allocated 2.9 Billion to the EACC, 2.9 billion to the office of the DPP and 6.4 bilion to the CID to strengthen them in the fight against corruption.

The CS has also set aside 7.9 billion to orphans and vulnerable children, 17.9 billion to the elderlies fund.

The CS also set aside 800 Million shillings for the regeneration of Nairobi River.
