Safaricom has today awarded one Jennifer Kathure with the third apartment in the ongoing ‘Maisha ni M-pesa tu’ promotion.
Jennifer, a Miraa vendor, explained how much M-pesa has impacted her life and business since registering as a Safaricom customer in 2005.
The single mother of three from Maua in Meru county said she did not expect to win and at first thought she was being conned.
“When they told me I had won, I refused and they had to convince me for more than three hours.I agreed after they tod me the safaricom number and went to the safaricom shop in Maua. The reception was overwhelming.I was so shocked.I have not even eaten for two days as I am still absorbing.M-pesa is real.”
Charles Wanjohi, the interim Safaricom Consumer Business Director, stated that they have been able to award about 400 thousand consumers and agents out of the targeted 2 million countrywide by the end of the promotion.
He also mentioned that anyone is legible to win with or without redeeming the points and the more points one has, the more their chances of winning.
“ Even now if you redeem the points you are still legible for the draw.We still have a lot of prizes to be won.By the time the promotion comes to an end, 2 million Kenyans will have received something from M-pesa tu.”
