A section of Kibra residents in Lindi ward are accusing their area MCA Jairus Amukhoye Omaya popularly known as Kasee of selling them water tanks issued for free by Nairobi governor Mike Sonko.
The youth who spoke to Ghetto Radio News say that each group given the tanks had to part with Ksh. 30,000 to Ksh. 50,000 in order to get the tanks.
Sonko in May had launched the water tank programme in his bid to end the water shortage.
The tanks were supposed to be distributed in all the 85 wards in Nairobi.
“The over 1,000 water tanks will mainly be distributed to Nairobi residents in informal settlements to help households store water for sustainability. All 85 Wards will receive 10 tanks each with a capacity of 1,000 liters each,” sonko said.
This accusation comes just a few days after Nairobi county Women Representative Esther Passaris accused a section of the youth of taking television sets meant for entrepreneurship into their houses.
The youth in Lindi have further accuse the MCA of poor representation in the county government claiming that it has cost them jobs rolled out in the county government by governor Sonko.
“For example the youth in Lindi ward missed recruitment in the cleaning programme launched by Sonko because of Kasee’s laxity,” claimed Abdul Ali a youth in the area.
They now want the MCA to show up from his hideout and do his job of serving the ward well.
