Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Security Fred Matiang’i has dismissed reports that there is a shortage for materials for the new police uniforms.

Matiang’i says the narrative is being spinned by cartels who want the government to award them contracts to import materials from China and Turkey.

According to Matiang’i they have already awarded companies to make the police uniforms including the National Youth Service.

Matiang’i says Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet, The Security PS and himself have been under pressure from the cartels who want to import the police uniform.

“Listen to me very carefully, we will not import police uniforms, you can go and write another 10 headlines, we will not import police uniforms. We have to promote our local textile industry,” stated Matiang’i.

“How are we going to support our cotton farmers, how are we going to support our cotton farmers and create job in our countries?” posed Matiang’i.

The CS says they are not going to use lame excuses to and go ahead and import the uniforms as demanded by the cartels.
