Maternal and Child health has improved in the country since the introduction of the free maternal clinics and First Lady’s Beyond Zero Campaign.
The initiative which involves the distribution of mobile clinics in various counties has seen the transmission of HIV from mother to child go down.
Principal Secretary Ministry of Health Dr Nicholas Muraguri says, the number of death for children below five years has reduced from 100,000 to 70,000 annually.
He further noted that the ministry will identify and award Kenyans who have been on the front line to fight maternal death and transmission of HIV from mother to child .
