Matatu owners association are breathing a sight of relief after receiving a court order to have the 14 seater matatu licenses for 2019 renewed.
According MOA chairperson Simon Kimutai the matatu owners are now free to receive their 2019 licenses.
“We have a court order that we obtained today from the constitution and human rights division of the court justice lady Okwany has ruled that our members whom we applied for be issued with licenses.” He said
Matatu owners Friday filed a new application seeking to challenge government’s move to phase out the 14-seater vehicles.
National Transport Safety Authority (NTSA) had blocked the renewal of licenses for 14 seater matatus prompting the association to move to court.
Kimutai also refuted the allegations that he is in full support of NTSA’s move to ban 14 seater matatus from accessing the central business district.
