Matatu operators call on sonko to ban private cars from CBD

Matatu operators have called on Nairobi governor Mike Sonko to ban private cars from accessing the Central Business District (CBD)

The operators led by matatu owner’s association chairperson Jimal Ibrahim, say that the private cars are the number one cause of trafick within the CBD.

Jimal also said that the MOA would like the county to charge huge parking fee within CBD so that private car owners shy from CBD.

“It’s not only matatus that are causing traffic in Nairobi, Even personal vehicles. The governor should either ban personal vehicles or hike the parking fee charges so as to reduce them from the CBD.” He said

He also denied allegations that certain matatu operators that were not included in the committee to remove matatus from the CBD.

He said all the saccos were included and that the committee currently has 256 members.
