Matatu, boda boda operators threaten to ground transport services over ban
Matatu and boda boda operators in Nakuru county have called for a strike, demanding the county government to reinstate their operations in the CBD.
The operators through their leader have threatened to ground transport services in the county until their plight is heard.
They accused Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui of highhandedness in handling them and making decisions affecting them without consulting them.
“If governor Lee Kinyanjui wants to be a one term governor, decide now. Either you take us back to where we conduct our business or you forget about being Nakuru Governor again,” said one matatu operator.
The operators claim that the disadvantaged people in the society will suffer a lot if the ban is implemented effectively.
The operators yesterday protested the eviction by burning tyres and barricading roads.
The operators said the new stages they are using have poor roads, and lack social amenities.
