Impala Right Winger Ian Minjire has been given a chance to stake his claim after the Kenya Simba Squad Team Manager Wangila Simiyu confirmed he will be making a debut ahead of the Elgon Cup against Uganda cranes at the RFUEA grounds on Saturday 30 2016.
Minjire 23, who was in Germany for industrial attachment missed the first leg of Division 1A against Uganda as well as three other matches against Brazil,Zimbabwe and Namibia.
Wangila Simiyu was speaking at RFUEA grounds as he announced the squad that is set to play the return leg match against Uganda as well as unveiling a new kit for the Kenya 15s on Thursday.
Missing in the list are Darwin Mukidza and Fabian Olando who are still nursing injuries and are replaced with Patrice Agunda and Ian Minjire.
“An injury period takes sometime so we decided to give Darwin and Fabian enough time to recover”.
Skipper Brian Nyikuli said Kenya Simbas will not underestimate its rival and would remain at the top 15s team of Elgon Cup cum Africa cup.
Kenya recorded 48-15 win in the first leg played at the Legends Rugby Club in Kampala.
“It’s not an easy task and therefore we’ll have to tighten our defence to be able to win.Uganda is a strong team and we respect them”.
“The preparation is good and we are facing this match as a new game for us because we have forgotten what happened during the first leg. Only the fans remember”.
Meanwhile Sportpesa PRO Yvonne Namai announced that Simba 15 are liable to bonus courtesy of Kenya Rugby headline sponsor SportPesa depending on their performance and the magnitude of the game.
“The first beneficiaries of the Sportpesa-Kenya Rugby partnership will be the Kenya 15s who play this Saturday. We have good news that they will receive bonus payments from all the games they take part in”
The bonuses range from $100 (Sh10,000) to $1,000 (Sh100,000) and will be backdated to cover their last four away matches.
