Man who has never been to Mombasa lands in quarantine after boarding bus from Mombasa
A man in Makueni County has landed in trouble after boarding a bus that snuck passengers from Mombasa on Tuesday.
Kennedy Watuka found himself in a quarantine facility after the bus was apprehended in Makuaeni county.
According to Watuka, he had just visited a local hospital and was on his way home when he hailed the bus by the roadside unbeknownst to him the bus had traveled from Mombasa county which is still under cessation of movement.
Watuka who says he has never been to Mombasa made several attempts to explain to the officers that he was not part of the passengers from Mombasa but his pleas fell on deaf ears.
“I came from Kola to Makueni hospital then on my way home I took this vehicle which has been intercepted. I have never been to Mombasa” he said
Police intercepted the bus ferrying 24 passengers from Mombasa in Makueni county.
According to Makueni County Commissioner Maalim Mohammed, they were headed to different destinations.
“Movement of our people in and out of Nairobi and Mombasa remain restricted. They have been lying to us that they have been ferrying people from Taita Tavetaa but we nabbed them,” he said.
He said the passengers were directed to proceed to Makindu Kenya Medical Training college centre where they will be under mandatory quarantine.
