Boniface Murage, the man who was arrested for smuggling his daughter out of Kenyatta National Hospital has been freed

The man was arrested on Saturday 16th as he tried to escape with his one month old daughter over a Ksh.56,000 hospital bill.

On Tuesday morning, Murage was presented before lady justice Muthoni Nzibe who handed him a 3-month suspended sentence.

The 22-year-old will remain on the state watch list for the next three months.

He pleaded guilty to the charge before Milimani Senior Resident Magistrate Muthoni Nzibe arguing that he was unable to raise the money.

His freedom comes hours after Nairobi governor Mike Sonko secured his wife and baby’s release after a well wisher cleared the said bill.

Speaking to the media shortly after his release, Murage thanked the well wishers who cleared his bill and secured his wife’s release.
