Malaria prevalence in the country has significantly reduced from a high of 11 percent to a low of eight percent.
The acting Director of Medical Services, Ministry of Health Dr Jackson Kioko says ,the reduction of malaria has been realised following the increased use of mosquitoe nets by individuals countrywide.
Currently more than twelve million households have access to mosquitoe nets that are being used by pregnant mothers and children below five years.
Dr. Kioko further explained that there have challenges in fighting malaria at the Lake basin and caostal region which have recorded high number of malaria cases .
He added that the ministry plans to provide vaccine that will prevent malaria infection.
