A section of Makongeni residents today stormed Nairobi governor Mike Sonko’s protesting against his recent attacks on Makongeni MCA Peter Imwatok.
Chanting anti Sonko slogans, the group demanded that Sonko accords Imwatok the respect he deserves as a Minority leader in the County Assembly.
‘‘We want Sonko to respect our MCA , we elected him, welove him and he deserve respect like other leaders,’’ said one person.
Governor Mike Sonko last week accused Imwatok of embezzling bursary funds a claim that the MCA vehemently denied.
Bunge la Mwananchi chairman Henry Shitanda has also asked governor Sonko to show respect to all elected leaders and to desist from abusing leaders and castigating them in media platforms.
‘‘Bunge la wananchi will not allow governor Sonko to disrespect elected leaders in this country and the time has come for him to come back to his senses and serve Nairobians with some decorum,’’ he added.
Imwatok and Sonko have been at loggerheads, governor accusing the MCA for working with cartels to fight him claims that have been rubbished by the lawmaker.
