The Sports Journalist Association Kenya (SJAK) and LG signed a mega deal earlier today at LG headquarters, Nairobi.
This partnership will see SJAK get a total sum of 6 million shillings, spread over a period of one year.
Speaking to journalists, LG’s Marketing Manager, Moses Marji, said that the money will go towards funding award ceremonies.
He further said that rewarding individual players was far more strategic and therefore ruled out plans of sponsoring the Kenya Premier League.
“This year we increase our support for partnership to reach Ksh. 6 Million which will be used for Player of the Month awards, facilitate logistics, three CSR activities related to sports and supporting the annual Player’s Gala.” Marji announced.
SJAK president, Chris Mbaisi said that the money will go a long way in boosting players’ morale following the withdrawal of Sport Pesa from football sponsorship.
“This is such a good deal especially to the youths, bearing in mind Sport Pesa opted out of sports sponsorship…” Quipped Mbaisi.
