The government today commissioned the resumption of the stalled NYS projects in Nairobi’s Kibera Slums.
Cabinet Secretary for Gender and Youth Affairs Sicily Kariuki who commissioned the resumption asked the youth to take advantage of the projects to benefit themselves economically and not politically.
Kariuki also assured the youth of the safety of their Sacco savings that have totalled up to 980 million shillings.
“I want to assure you that the 900 million shillings is safe. At Kibra alone we had a saving of 113.5 million shillings. This is a programme aimed at bringing the youth themselves to a situation of empowerement and awakening so that they do not bring themselves to a situation of being manipulated politically or otherwise,” said the CS.
Kibra MP Ken Okoth hailed the commissioning of the project asking the youth to use it to benefit themselves.
