The Kothbiro off-season tournament will take a 4 days break in honor of their departed CEO Stephen Ogos.
Ogos will be buried on Saturday in Siaya county with the convoy for his burial expected to leave Ziwani on Friday morning after an overnight vigil in the neighborhood.
Ogos had successfully ran the tournament through the group stages after he was handed the mantle of the CEO in this year’s edition until he met his untimely death.
Until his death Besh was also the communication manager at The Kenya Footballers Welfare Association and this year’s edition of the Kothbiro tournament will be in honour of his memory.
Despite the challenge,teams in the tournament have proven to be tough with experienced teams suffering shock defeats in the hands of teams participating in the tournament for the first time
Defending champions Cinema FC pooled in Group A suffered a shock defeat in the hands of new entries Allin Jua Kali to the pleasure of their numerous fans who have continuously shown support for the team since their first match in the play-offs.
While in Group B Githurai United who were runners up in last year’s edition were held to a surprising goal less draw by Ping FC who have shown that they are a team to watch out for in the tournament having had a strong campaign during the play offs.
The tournament will resume on Monday with the tournament heading into the 3rd leg with the fixtures as follows:
