Kenyatta National Hospital  nurses have vowed not to resume duties until the KNH management  assures them of their safety and justice for their colleague  who was attacked by a patient’s  relative on Saturday.

In an interview with Ghetto Radio News  Kenya National Union of Nurses secretary General Nairobi branch Eddiah Muruli says the nurses in KNH are in fear and the management must come clear on what happen before they can go back.

According to Muruli  they want an immediate audience with KNH  to restore security lapses and other managerial issues .

‘‘We will not go back until  our colleague get justice the same way the public always demand justice should any nurse mess  in his or her  line of duty.’’ She added.

Muruli  says the relatives’ of  the deceased patient attacked a nurse on duty  from the back after receiving news that the patient who was suffering from  Leukemia had passed on.

The nurse fell on ground  and started making funny noises as somebody being strangled.

It was at this time that other  nurses screamed before the security team intervened.

The security status at KNH has raised concerns  and last year a patient  was killed by unknown persons in Psychatric ward in the same facility under unclear circumstances.

‘‘We have requested the management for an urgent meeting and this time round we will make sure our safety is granted.’’
