Consultant surgeons at the Kenyatta National Hospital have blamed sytemic failure for the grave error.

Consultant Dr. David Kimani argues that the country should deal with the gross staff shortage at the hospital rather than blaming the staff in underfunded and crowded hospital.

Doctors union Chairman Simon Oroko has stated that the suspension of the hospital’s CEO, Director of Clinical services and staff involved in the surgery was premature.

The withdrawal of 700 doctors on training will see the hospital only offer 15 percent of the services KNH usually provides.
