Kiunjuri unveils sugar reform task force

The Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture Mwangi Kiunjuri has today unveiled sugar reforms task force with the aim of reviving the sugar industry.

He states that the reform will enable the reviewing of the policy, check on the emerging challenges facing the sugar industry and also review how sugar is imported.

He says that the sugar industry has faced a number of challenges that have led to inadequate production of sugar for national consumption and denied steady income to the farmers and through the task force initiation, it will ease the operation to the farmers.

He further states that the task force will work within 30 days and the ministry expects it to take effect on Friday, the 9th November 2018.
