KISUMU ALL STARS PROMOTED TO KPL

Kisumu All stars have earned  a promotion to the SportPesa premier league after edging out Thika United by 7 goals .

Kisumu County Deputy Governor Dr. Mathews Owili lauded the team on the historic achievement.
“On behalf of our Governor Prof. Peter Nyong’o wish to congratulate the team on this victory, we are hoping for better things in the KPL”, said Owili.

The Sunday afternoon clash at Thika saw 20 year old Ian Motanda and Erick Otieno net sumptuous hat tricks  while Moses Odhiambo netting a  header to wallop the hosts 7-1..

Erick Otieno opened the score sheet on the second minute while Ian Motanda added the second goal 10 minutes later.

The first half saw Kisumu All Stars net 4 goals while Thika United scored their lone goal of the match.

During the second half Erick Otieno net another goal followed two successive goals by the teammates.

Kisumu All Stars were in imperious form as Ian Motanda netted his hat trick on the 89th minute.

The playing and technical squad lauded the CEC for Sports and Tourism Achie Alai for believing in them and offering them support from every corner.

“She believed in our dream and supported us very well, Kisumu all-stars is now force in the country’s soccer history”, said the team Manager Alfred Omondi.

The community team was constituted in February 2018 and has earned a promotion in their first quest.

Captain Bobby Kwaka was all over the moon with the victory.

“We fought for this moment and through hard work and determination we have earned our promotion” said a delighted Bobby.

The team will return to the lakeside city with plans for massive celebrations underway for the ‘eagle’. Kisumu All Stars remarkable rise to earn promotion saw them stage a dominance performance winning 23 matches in the National Super league racking up 80 points.
