Revamped Kericho

Kenya Premier League has confirmed all Venues for the six opening fixtures of the 2017 SportPesa Premier League this weekend. The revamped Kericho stadium has also been shown the green light to host high profile football matches.

The Kenya Premier League edition of 2017 was delayed for about a month following wrangles between FKF and KPL on different issues. However, the showdown returns this weekend with a number of matches scheduled to be played.

On Saturday, reigning champions Tusker will host National Super League Champions Nzoia United. The match between the two champions from top and lower tier leagues respectively will be played at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru.

Elsewhere, Bandari Fc will entertain debutants Nakumatt Fc at Mbaraki Sports Club in Mombasa. Posta Rangers will be away to newly promoted Zoo Kericho at a refurbished Kericho Green Stadium.

Then on Sunday 12th, Mathare United will lock horns with Thika United, and new comers Kariobangi Sharks face a potential baptism of fire against 15-time league champions Gor Mahia in a double header at Thika County Stadium. On the same day Sony Sugar will host fellow millers Chemelil Sugar in notoriously hostile Awendo Green Stadium.

AFC Leopards were scheduled to take on Ulinzi Stars but the soldiers travelled to Egypt for continental competitions .Kakamega Homeboyz and Western Stima are yet to know their opponents in the opening fixtures due to the misunderstandings  between FKF and KPL on an 18 team league.
