Kenyatta University has been ranked the best in sporting amongst 55 universities in Kenya after a research that was conducted by CPS Research International released on Wednesday 10 2016.
The University took the top spot for its sporting facilities and its remarkable performance at the annual Kenya Universities Sports Association (KUSA).
KU bagged 223 points ahead of University of Nairobi who emerged second with 215 points and United States International University (USIU) taking the third place with 191 points.
Representing the findings Professor Herman Manyora a lecturer at the University of Nairobi said that emerging in the first position meant that Kenyatta University has invested heavily on sporting.
CPS used 17 variables to conduct a survey on 55 Universities with the level of facilities being looked at,the budgetary allocation for sports as well as the number of sporting activities.
“To be able to be in the level where Kenyatta University are it must have taken a while and alot of money.”
“CPS has been engaging the institutions to build sporting in Kenya to encourage and inform people to be able to inform them on what is going on in Universities in terms of Sports and push them to invest on the upcoming talents”.
He however noted that Kenya best known for producing best sports persons the government has done little to promote sporting culture and developing young talents in higher learning institutions.
“People should learn to invest alot more on sports”
