Kenyan referee Aden Marwa has pulled out of officiating the 2018 Fifa World Cup after being filmed by a Ghanaian journalist receiving a bribe.
In an expose that ran in the BBC Marwa is seen receiving cash from the Ghanaian journalist in before a match.
He was approached by an undercover journalist posing as a Ghanaian football official before the Africa Nations Championship.
He is heard in the video thanking the Journalist saying that the most important thing is friendship while picking the money and thanking him for the cash.
The investigation was done by “Anas Anas” whose identity has never been released to the public. It is reported that Marwa received $600 approximately Ksh 60,000.
Marwa was the only Kenyan in the prestigious list of match officials released by FIFA some few months ago to be at the World Cup in Russia.
