Kenyan short film ‘Watu Wote’ based on the 2015 Mandera bus attack has been nominated for an Oscar award.
In an historic moment held at the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre in Los Angeles, USA, Watu Wote was listed among many short films for this year’s Oscar awards.
The film won an Oscar last year in the student film category and many are hopeful that this year they will bring the award home.
The film highlights the tragic Al-Shabaab militant bus attack that took place in Mandera in December 2015.
The short film that was produced in 2016 as the final school project for the graduating class in Hamburg Media School master class program 2016.
