Athletics Kenya Wednesday unveiled Masters Athletics Organization with an aim to bring together star athletes of yesteryears.
The Organization will be seeking to participate for the first time ever at the World Athletics Masters Championships in Perth,Australia between October 26 and November 6, 2016.
Founder and Secretary General MAK,Bernard Chepkonga said “the association will be giving an opportunity to matured athletes to continue with the activity”
“Our vision has been to participate internationally and age should not be a barrier for someone to achieve their dream”.
Masters Athletes already has an Founder interim Committee of 11 members including country’s great athletes,Barnaba Kitilit as the President,Cathrene Ndereba as treasurer, Sarah Chepkonga vice president, Bernard Chepkonga secretary general, Joseph Ilovi technical director, Elizabeth Olaba public relations officer, Kipchoge Keino honorary member, Stephen Ole Marai member Barnaba Korir, Francis Nyatome and Nicholas Bailashia.
Masters Athletics will also incorporate members of the public of age 35-45 years,with an aim of promoting sports tourism and for recreation and health purposes.
