Kenya Sevens Head Coach Benjamin Ayimba has named the squad to represent the Country in the HSBC World Sevens Series in France and England.
Ten of the 12 players who lifted the recent Singapore 7s leg of Series are part of the squad named on Wednesday 4 May 2016 at the RFUEA Grounds to take part in Paris 7s set to take part on 13-15 May, and London 7s the weekend after.
Once again KCB back row Andrew Amonde will skipper the team to be deputized by Mwamba flyer Collins Injera who, with 225 tries, is just five short of Santiago Cora Gomez’s record.
The two changes sees the return of Strathmore’s Alex Olaba for his first tour this season, and team mate Billy Odhiambo who makes a comeback from injury after missing Hong Kong and Singapore Sevens. The two take up the places of Homeboyz’ Alvine Otieno and Impala’s Samuel Motari who made their debut in the last two legs.
Kenya Harlequin’s Willy Ambaka, named to the dream team at the end of Cape Town 7s and the memorable Singapore 7s is also in and so is the star at the end of Sydney and Singapore 7s Oscar Ayodi of Homeboyz.
Mwamba’s Humphrey Tall Kayange, with 65 events under his belt has been called on once again as he makes the squad, and so is Homeboyz’ Augustine Lugonzo and Nakuru’s Nelson Oyoo’s whose coast to coast dash at Singapore stadium for Kenya’s fifth try, in the 30-5 demolition of fancied Fiji in the final set the Singapore Stadium alight.
Impala’s Sammy Oliech who is slowly creating his niche in the squad is in for a fifth straight tournament. He is expected to carry on with kicking duties in the absence of Biko Adema. He is joined by his team mate Robert Aringo, also going for his fifth event.
Harlequins Frank Wanyama completes the cast from the Singapore kings.
Otieno makes the non travelling list alongside Jeff Oluoch who made his debut at Dubai 7s and Bush Mwale who was ruled out after the first four legs of the series to injury.
