The Kenya Rollball team last night held their dinner at the Sunstar Hotel in honor of the team’s performance during the World Rollball World Cup.
The Ladies were crowned champions as the Men came in as runners-up for the 3rd time in the tournament that was held last month in Chennai, India.
“Congratulations on this great achievement, this being a new sport, your performance was exemplary! It is time more sponsors came in to support the sport and grow it,” said activist Boniface Mwangi.
Despite the tremendous results, the journey has not been a walk in the park for these great teams due to lack of funds, poor training grounds, attires and support
Roll ball is an exciting sport where skating is combined with skills from basketball and handball and played with a basket ball.
The sport began in the country in 2011 and grew popularity when the ladies team shocked the world by beating India to clinch the title for the first time in 2015.
Both teams are unbeaten African champions.
