The FKF president Nick Mwendwa confirmed on Tuesday that CAF has no interest of taking away the privilege of Kenya hosting the CHAN 2018 competitions.
He added that the country is on its course and thorough preparations are underway for the tournament which is just 10 months away.”We are on course to host the CHAN 218 and CAF has no interest of denying Kenya the privilege”.Mwendwa said.
CAF has however raised concerns over Nyayo National stadium and Safaricom Stadium Kasarani on the dressing rooms and accommodation. Other two venues that are likely to be selected after construction and renovations are the Mombasa stadium, Kinoru stadium, Machakos and Kipkeino stadiums.
Mwendwa stated that the contractors are currently on ground and the work has commenced. He also added that the government has offered to support the process through the ministry of sports to actualize on budgeting.
A team from CAF is expected to carry out inspection on the venues as from 20th-24th Feb.The confederation is concerned that various issues such as hospitality and government are addressed.
