2019 KENYA OPEN ELITE MEN AND WOMEN AMATEUR BOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS is looking for the National boxing champion of Kenya tcarry on the Kenya boxing title.
The tournament has brought together boxers across 15 counties with a total of 120 boxers registering 25 women in the tourney recording the highest number of women ever in the competition.
Speaking to Ghetto Radio sports National Boxing Association in Kenya Vice Chairman Albert Matito says that the competiton is set to prepare the boxers for the ALL AFRICA GAMES and also the Africa Boxing Championships which is set for the Olympics 2020.
The tournament started on 24th of April till 27th of April at charter hall with winners from the competition set to recieve certificets because the tournament is basically for selection.
Albert says that the National Body for boxing has not chipped in to support the Tournament but they thank the county government of Nairobi for the hall and one of their own Anthony ‘Jamal’ Ombok who has supported the Tournament with transport for the Boxers & Officials from their destinations.
Today (Saturday 27th April) is the D day as all the Finals will Show Case.
“Entrance will be Free, Fans have been urged to come out in large numbers to witness our next Boxing Superstars,” Said Albert.
