Sportpesa shield cup champions Kariobangi Sharks are the winners of the 3rd edition of the Sportpesa cup.
Sharks beat the dockers Bandari 1-0 to book a match with English premier league side Everton.
This is the third time a Kenyan team has won the competition where the winner takes home ksh.3 million plays against an English team
Harrison Mwendwa scored the lone goal the match.
In the third and fourth play-off Tanzanian giants Simba overcame Mbao FC on post-match penalties 5-4.
Debutants Mbao had earlier on beaten champions Kogalo on post-match penalties after coming from a goal down.
Football Kenya Federation president and sharks owner Nick Mwendwa was over the moon after the win saying “consistency and hard work in football will always carry the day.”
Bandari coach Bernard Mwalala was happy despite the loss saying “we have gained valuable experience in the competition which helps us improve in the upcoming matches.”
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was the chief guest at the event.
