Joseph ‘Jowie’ Irungu sues State over Mistreatment
Joseph ‘Jowie’ Irungu has sued the state for what he terms as ‘Inhumane’ treatment.
In a statement filed on Friday, Jowie’s lawyer Wilson Nandwa claims that his client’s life is in danger and has asked for his protection.
“The applicant is being subjected to inhumane treatment in a cell infested with snakes and a dirty blanket full of bedbugs and lice,” He said
Jowie’s lawyer also wants the prison officers restrained from mistreating his client who he further claims needs medical examination preferably at Kiambu Hospital.
Jowie has also asked the court to order the Commissioner of Prisons to escort him to Kiambu police station to report the incident where he was assaulted by prison officers.
He also alleged that he was threatened by a Mr Lekulal who physically assaulted him with other officers at Kamiti maximum prison.
Jowie was transferred to Manyani Maximum in Voi after he was allegedly found in possession of contraband goods inside the prison facility.
