A Java  coffee shop in Kileleshwa was this morning demolished for having being built on riparian land.

Nairobi County’s Head of Inspectorate Peter Mbaya said that the multi-agency taskforce consists of officers from the Central Government, City Hall and the National Environment Management Authority.

Mr.Mbaya added that demolitions will continue targeting buildings less than 50 metres from a river.

Reports indicate that the owners of the buildings had been notified of the demolitions but had not taken any actions.

He further said that the exercise is part of efforts by the county government to bring down illegal structures within Nairobi.

On its part, the Java management through their official twitter handle confirmed the demolition urging their customers to visit other neighboring branches on Lenana Road and Hurligham.
