Independent Policing Oversight Authority has only managed to convict three police officers since its inception six years ago.
This is against the 752 cases whose investigations IPOA has concluded.
A report released today by IPOA marking the end of the board’s tenure stated that the organization has so far forwarded 164 cases to the office of the DPP for prosecution upon which 64 are already in court.
IPOA Chairman Macharia Njeru further outlined complaints against police officers with abuse of office leading at 45 per cent.
This is followed by police harassment at 18 per cent and police misconduct at 13.8 per cent among others.
Macharia also stated some of the challenges faced by the authority like the police officers being resistant while being vetted by the civilians.
