A section of residents from  Mathare 4A in Utalii ward are a disappointed lot after going for two weeks without electricity.

According  to one Moses Owadniga the electricity supply was cut by the Kenya Power on suspicion that  the residents are using illegal connections.

Owadniga however differed by the illegal connections claim saying that Kenya Power seems to have a different motive behind the disconnection.

“Kenya power are saying that  we have made illegal connections and that is not the case because I personally have a meter. They should come and come clear to us.” Said  a frustrated Owadniga.

Speaking to Ghetto Radio the residents say that their daily activities have been disrupted and they are now facing security threats  especially during the night.

They are now calling on Kenya Power to step up and connect them back to the national grid failure to which they will hold peaceful  demonstrations at the company’s offices

On the same note, other residents have come out in support  of the power company saying those complaining are using illegal connections which are the cause of frequent fires in the area.

According to Kevin Keya, some of the illegal connections bring about feuds especially when electricity cartels are asking for pay.
