Hillary Mutyambai sworn in as new Inspector General of Police

Hillary Nzioka Mutyambai has this morning been sworn in as the country’s third Police Inspector General (IG).

Mutyambai who replaces Joseph Boinnet will serve a four-year term as the new IG.

His priority, he says, will be to eliminate the threat of terrorism, sustain the heightened war on economic crimes and cattle rustling.

The new I.G has also put to notice rogue police officers saying they will be served judtice accordingly.

“Police have the right to discharge their duties firmly and fairly but those who break the law will be served with justice accordingly.” He said

IG Mutyambai assumes office at a time when there are a series of reforms in the police sector, but says he is equal to the challenge and will expedite their implementation.
