One out of five girls aged between 15-24 years among the youths in Nairobi is pregnant.
This is according to Mama Ye Evidence for Action an organization doing maternal health in Nairobi .
The organization’s coordinator George Ogola says the trend is being caused by improper channels and lack of sensitization of teenagers on family planning and general maternal health.
He has also asked Nairobi county government to ensure KEMSA avails required drugs for family planning purposes.
Meanwhile the National Council for Population and development ,maintains that the council will ensure safety for those using contraceptives.
Director Samuel Tanui says the council is working closely with KEBS to ensure what is consumed is correct and do not have adverse side effects.
