The High Court has suspended the ban on the use of non-woven carrier bags in the Kenyan market.

Justice James Aaron Makau issued the temporary order following an application filed by Importers and Small Traders Association of Kenya.

In court, the traders argued that they had invested heavily in terms of capital through acquisition of machinery, raw material and labor.

The judge stated that the directions stand until when the Kenya Bureau of Standards(KEBS) will set the right standards of shopping bags.
