Health Services Paralysed As Nairobi County health Workers Remain On Strike
Health crisis at Nairobi County Government hospitals seems to be far from over as today a section of health workers demanded better pay and promotions.
The health workers on strike include nurses, laboratory technicians, nutritionists and clinical officers.
Led by Ediah Muruli of Kenya National Union of Nurses the workers say that they have not been promoted for a while, despite most over them getting higher education that calls for re-designation and higher job groups.
They want Nairobi Metropolitan Services together with County Government of Nairobi to move with speed and facilitate their promotions to new job groups failure to which they will not resume their duties.
‘‘We have some of our colleagues who have stayed in the same job group for more than 10 years and with better education and they have never been employed. We want NMS and the county government to address these matters promptly,’’Muruli said.
Other demands include payment of August salaries, withdrawal from NMS and improved allowances.
