Manchester City’s manager Pep Guardiola has been termed as one of the greatest and most successful managers in the world of football by many. The Spanish tactician has won major trophies with both Barcelona and Bayern Munich and by doing so; his coaching profile has been further decorated.
Despite all the achievements, Middlesbrough head coach Aitor Karanka has taunted his fellow coach Pep Guardiola by claiming he is not even the best boss in Manchester, let alone the world. Karanka says he must win the Premier League before he can be compared to the likes of Jose Mourinho.Karanka says Mourinho is the best coach in the world.
“Guardiola is not the best coach in the world – the best coach in the world is Jose Mourinho. He has shown it at Porto, Inter Milan, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United. He was the best in ‘Spain’ and he still is the best,”Karanka said.
Middlesbrough is set to battle Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter final on Saturday afternoon in which either side will be looking for the semi-final spot. Theremarks by Karanka on Guardiola signals a tougher match between the two sides.
In his playing career, Karanka won the Champions League three times as with Real Madrid and later became an assistant to Jose Mourinho at the club. The two managers seem to have a long term rivalry in their playing careers.
However, Karanka adds that Guardioa has to win the Premier League before being termed as the best.“He has shown he can win titles in Spain with Barcelona and with Bayern Munich in Germany and he probably thought he would do the same in England,”Karanka added.
